Ingredients

For the Salisbury Steak:

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1/4 cup milk

1 medium egg

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

For the Brown Gravy:

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Patties: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and fresh parsley. Mix until just combined. Form the mixture into four oval patties.

Cook the Patties: In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, add the butter and let it melt. Whisk in the flour, stirring continuously for about 2 minutes until the mixture is golden brown and bubbly. Slowly pour in the beef broth, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Add the Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Combine: Once the gravy thickens (about 5 minutes), add the cooked patties back into the skillet. Spoon some gravy over them, cover, and let simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Serve: Serve the Salisbury steaks hot, drizzled with gravy, over a bed of mashed potatoes or alongside steamed vegetables for a complete meal. Garnish with additional parsley if desired.
