Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced

2 cups broccoli florets

1 cup bell peppers, sliced (any color)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 cup jasmine rice

2 cups water or beef broth

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Ingredients: Begin by marinating the beef in a bowl with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Let it sit for about 10 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Cook the Rice: In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water or beef broth to a boil. Add the jasmine rice, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until the rice is tender and all the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and fluff with a fork.

Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and tender but still crisp. Add the sliced bell peppers and continue to stir-fry for another 2 minutes.

Combine and Sauce It Up: Return the partially cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir everything together, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through and everything is well coated with the sauce.

Serve: Spoon the beef and broccoli stir-fry over bowls of fluffy jasmine rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
