Ingredients

1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Zest of 1 lemon

Fresh lemon wedges (for serving)

Optional: Red pepper flakes for a kick

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). This temperature will help achieve that lovely crispiness.

Prepare the Asparagus: Rinse the asparagus under cold water and pat dry. Trim the woody ends by snapping them off or cutting about 1-2 inches from the bottom.

Season the Asparagus: In a large bowl, combine the trimmed asparagus with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat the asparagus evenly with the oil and seasonings.

Add Parmesan and Lemon Zest: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese and lemon zest over the seasoned asparagus. Toss again until the asparagus is well-coated.

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Spread the asparagus evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer to ensure even roasting.

Roast the Asparagus: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for about 12-15 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender and the cheese is golden and crispy. If you like it extra crispy, consider broiling it for an additional 2 minutes at the end, but watch it closely to prevent burning.

Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Serve with fresh lemon wedges and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired for an extra kick!
