Ingredients

1 cup rolled oats

1 ½ cups milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, etc.)

1 medium apple, diced (preferably a sweeter variety like Fuji or Honeycrisp)

2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey, if not vegan)

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

2 tablespoons walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

2 tablespoons raisins or dried cranberries (optional)

Fresh apple slices and more nuts for topping

Instructions

Combine the Base: In a medium-sized bowl or a mason jar, combine the rolled oats, milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir until well mixed.

Add the Goodness: Gently fold in the diced apple, incorporating the fruit evenly into the oat mixture. If you’re using optional nuts and dried fruit, add them at this stage too.

Chill Overnight: Cover the bowl or seal the mason jar and place it in the refrigerator. Let it sit overnight (or at least 4-6 hours), allowing the oats to absorb the liquid and soften.

Serve and Enjoy: In the morning, stir the oats thoroughly. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of extra milk to reach your desired consistency. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.

Top It Off: Serve in bowls, garnishing with fresh apple slices, additional nuts, or a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. Enjoy your nutritious and flavorful breakfast!
