Ingredients

2 cups rolled oats

1 cup grated apple (about 1 large apple)

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/2 cup almond butter (or any nut butter of your choice)

1/3 cup honey or maple syrup

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

1/2 cup raisins or dried cranberries

Optional: 1/4 cup flaxseeds or chia seeds for added nutrition

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated apple, applesauce, almond butter, and honey (or maple syrup). Stir until well incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and optional flaxseeds (or chia seeds) until evenly distributed.

Merge Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined. Fold in the chopped nuts and raisins (or cranberries) for added texture and sweetness.

Transfer to Pan: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Press down firmly to ensure the mixture holds together while baking.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Slice: Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Use the parchment paper to lift the squares out of the pan and onto a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into squares or bars.

Store: Enjoy immediately or store the squares in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
