Ingredients

For the crust:

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced

4-5 tablespoons ice water

For the filling:

1 cup maple syrup (preferably Grade A)

1 cup packed brown sugar

4 large eggs

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon salt

1 ½ cups pecan halves

Instructions

Prepare the Pie Crust:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.

      - Add the diced butter. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

        - Stir in the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Form it into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

          Preheat the Oven:

            - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

              Roll Out the Crust:

                - On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a 12-inch circle. Carefully place it into a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it gently into the bottom and sides. Trim the excess and crimp the edges.

                  Prepare the Filling:

                    - In a mixing bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.

                      Add Pecans:

                        - Stir in the pecan halves, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the filling.

                          Assemble the Pie:

                            - Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading the pecans evenly.

                              Bake the Pie:

                                - Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. The pie may puff slightly while baking but will settle as it cools.

                                  Cool and Serve:

                                    - Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a delightful finish!
