Ingredients

1 large loaf of Italian bread (preferably round or oval)

1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup of sliced pepperoni

1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup of pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)

1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted

2 teaspoons of garlic powder

1 teaspoon of dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)

1 teaspoon of salt

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Bread: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice the Italian bread into cubes, being careful not to cut all the way through the bottom. Make crisscross cuts in both directions to create a grid pattern.

Mix the Cheeses and Pepperoni: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese, sliced pepperoni, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well to ensure even distribution.

Fill the Bread: Gently pull apart the sliced sections of the bread and stuff the cheese and pepperoni mixture into each crevice. Aim to pack the filling in generously.

Prepare the Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, garlic powder, Italian herbs, and salt.

Butter the Bread: Drizzle the garlic butter mixture all over the stuffed bread, ensuring you get some into the cuts. Use a brush or spoon to spread it evenly.

Wrap for Baking: Wrap the stuffed bread tightly in aluminum foil, creating a parcel. This will help it steam and melt the cheese perfectly.

Bake: Place the bread parcel on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until heated through and cheese is melted.

Unwrap and Serve: Carefully unwrap the foil (watch out for steam!), then place the bread on a serving platter. Optionally, brush with a bit more melted butter and sprinkle with chopped parsley for a finishing touch.

Dipping Sauce: Serve warm with extra pizza sauce on the side for dipping!
