Lemon Butter Tilapia

4 tilapia fillets

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)

Juice and zest of 1 large lemon

Salt and pepper, to taste

Lemon slices for garnish

Prepare the Fillets: Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

    Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Allow the butter to melt and foam slightly.

      Cook the Tilapia: Add the tilapia fillets to the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until the fish is golden brown and flakes easily with a fork. Remove the fillets from the skillet and transfer them to a warm plate.

        Create the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and fresh thyme. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the lemon juice and stir to combine, scraping any bits from the bottom of the pan.

          Finish with Butter and Herbs: Reduce the heat to low and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, lemon zest, and chopped parsley to the skillet. Stir until the butter is melted and the sauce is smooth.

            Serve: Return the tilapia fillets to the skillet, spooning the lemon butter sauce over the top. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to warm through.
