Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 green onions, finely chopped (plus extra for garnish)

1 cup cooked jasmine rice (or brown rice)

1 cup broccoli florets (or your favorite vegetable)

1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Kimchi (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade:

In a medium bowl, mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes until well combined. Set aside.

      Cook the Ground Beef:

Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.

          Add the Marinade:

Pour the marinade over the cooked beef and stir to coat evenly. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.

              Steam the Broccoli:

While the beef is cooking, steam the broccoli florets in a pot or microwave until tender-crisp, about 3-5 minutes.

                  Assemble the Bowl:

In serving bowls, start by adding a generous scoop of jasmine rice. Top with a portion of the Korean ground beef, followed by steamed broccoli.

                      Garnish:

Sprinkle chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds over the top. For an extra kick, add a spoonful of kimchi if desired.

                          Serve:

Enjoy your Korean Beef Bowl hot, combining all elements for a delightful meal!
