Ingredients

12 slider rolls (mini sub rolls or Hawaiian rolls)

1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy, your choice)

1 cup marinara sauce

1 cup sliced pepperoni

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup sliced provolone cheese

1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)

1/2 cup diced bell peppers (red, green, or both)

1/4 cup diced red onion

1 tsp Italian seasoning

2 tbsp olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, add the Italian sausage. Break it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.

Add Flavor: Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes until heated through.

Prep the Rolls: Slice the slider rolls in half horizontally to create a top and bottom for each slider. Arrange the bottom halves in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Layer Ingredients: Spoon the sausage mixture evenly over the bottom halves of the rolls. Then, layer pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, black olives (if using), mozzarella cheese, and provolone cheese on top.

Close and Brush: Place the top halves of the rolls over the layered ingredients. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil with a pinch of salt and brush it over the top of the sliders to give them a golden finish.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the tops are golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Slice and serve hot.
