Honey Garlic Turkey Meatballs

1 pound ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp dried oregano

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tbsp sesame oil (optional)

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Mix Meatball Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and oregano. Mix gently until just combined (avoid overmixing to keep the meatballs tender).

      Form Meatballs: Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the meatballs onto the prepared baking sheet. You should have approximately 20 meatballs.

        Bake Meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and slightly golden on the outside.

          Make Honey Garlic Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.

            Combine & Serve: Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and place them in a large bowl. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the baked meatballs and toss gently to coat.

              Garnish and Enjoy: Serve the meatballs warm, garnished with extra chopped parsley or a sprinkle of sesame seeds, if desired.
