When preparing your Ginger Peach Iced Tea, one crucial step is ensuring that your sugar or honey dissolves completely in the hot tea. This not only enhances the overall sweetness but also ensures that every sip is consistently flavorful. Undissolved sugar can lead to a gritty texture at the bottom of your pitcher, which detracts from the smooth drinking experience we desire. To achieve this, stir the sweetener into the tea while it’s still warm. This allows the sugar or honey to blend seamlessly with the tea, ensuring a delightful taste throughout.

Ingredients

4 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced

6 cups water

4 black tea bags (or 4 tablespoons loose black tea)

½ cup sugar (or to taste; can substitute with honey)

Fresh mint leaves, for garnish

Ice cubes

Instructions

Prepare the Peach-Ginger Infusion: In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced peaches and fresh ginger. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. This will help to extract the flavors from the peaches and ginger. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

Brew the Tea: While the peach-ginger mixture simmers, bring the remaining water (4 cups) to a boil in another pot. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the black tea bags (or loose tea). Allow it to steep for about 5-7 minutes for a robust flavor.

Combine Mixtures: After the peach-ginger mixture has simmered, remove it from heat. Strain the mixture, pressing the solids to extract as much juice as possible into a bowl or pitcher. Discard the solids.

Mix Tea and Sweetener: In the pitcher with the strained peach and ginger liquid, add the brewed tea and sugar (or honey). Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.

Cool Down: Let the mixture cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer to the refrigerator and chill for at least 1-2 hours, or until completely cold.

Serve: To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled Ginger Peach Iced Tea over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and extra slices of peach for a beautiful presentation.

Enjoy: Sip and enjoy this delightful, refreshing beverage on a hot sunny day!
