Ingredients

2 fresh tuna steaks (about 6 ounces each)

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 cup mayonnaise

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon capers, rinsed and chopped

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

Optional: lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Aioli: In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, capers, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Season the Tuna: While the aioli chills, pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Rub each steak with olive oil, then season generously on both sides with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.

Heat the Pan: Preheat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Allow it to get hot, which helps achieve a nice sear on the tuna.

Cook the Tuna: Place the seasoned tuna steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for about 1.5 to 2 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time according to your desired doneness (the tuna should be seared on the outside but still pink and slightly rare in the center).

Serve: Remove the tuna steaks from the skillet and let them rest for a minute. Slice the steaks against the grain and serve them with the prepared garlic aioli on the side. Garnish with lemon wedges if desired.

Enjoy: Pair this dish with a fresh salad or grilled vegetables for a perfect meal!
