Ingredients

For the Tacos:

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 tbsp olive oil

1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade)

8 small taco shells or corn tortillas

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup diced tomatoes

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup sour cream

1 avocado, sliced

Fresh cilantro, for garnish

For the Homemade Salsa:

4 ripe tomatoes, diced

1 small red onion, finely chopped

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

1 jalapeño, finely diced (optional for heat)

1 lime, juiced

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Cook the Meat:

    - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula for even cooking (about 7-10 minutes).

      - Once cooked, drain any excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning and follow the package instructions (typically adding water and simmering for a few minutes).

        Prepare the Salsa:

          - In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, fresh cilantro, and jalapeño (if using).

            - Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mixture, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well and set aside to let the flavors meld.

              Warm the Taco Shells:

                - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place taco shells on a baking sheet and warm them for about 5-7 minutes until they are crispy.

                  Assemble the Tacos:

                    - In each taco shell, place a generous spoonful of the seasoned meat. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese.

                      - Add a dollop of sour cream and a few slices of avocado. Garnish with fresh cilantro.

                        Serve:

                          - Place the assembled tacos on a platter and serve with a bowl of homemade salsa on the side. Enjoy your taco feast with family and friends!
