Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Start by rinsing the shrimp under cold water. Pat them dry using paper towels to ensure they absorb the seasonings well.

Make the Seasoning: In a small bowl, combine the paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to create a uniform spice blend.

Season the Shrimp: In a large bowl, toss the shrimp with the olive oil and lemon juice. Sprinkle the spice blend over the shrimp and toss again until all the shrimp are well coated.

Preheat the Pan: Heat a large skillet or cast iron pan over medium-high heat until it’s very hot. You want the pan to be smoking slightly to achieve that perfect blackened crust.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the seasoned shrimp to the hot skillet in a single layer. Allow them to cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are opaque and have a nice char. Avoid overcrowding the pan; you may need to cook in batches.

Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the skillet and transfer them to a serving dish. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.

Enjoy: Serve your blackened shrimp immediately with your choice of sides, such as rice, salad, or tacos.
