Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

3 cups fresh broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon water

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked white or brown rice, for serving

Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and water. Mix well to coat the meat evenly. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare other ingredients.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the fresh broccoli florets and blanch for 2 minutes until they are vibrant green. Quickly transfer them to an ice water bath to stop cooking, then drain and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef and set aside on a plate.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet and stir-fry with the garlic and ginger for another minute. Return the beef to the skillet and stir everything together. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked to your desired doneness.

Finish and Serve: Season with salt and pepper to taste. If the dish seems dry, you can add a splash of water or additional soy sauce. Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over a bed of fluffy rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
