Ingredients

8 oz (225 g) spaghetti or fettuccine

1 lb (450 g) ground beef

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 medium onion, chopped

1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained

1/2 cup beef broth (or red wine for deeper flavor)

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust for heat)

Salt and black pepper to taste

2 tbsp olive oil

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti or fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Brown the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the ground beef and season with salt and black pepper. Cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Stir in the drained diced tomatoes, beef broth (or red wine), dried oregano, and red pepper flakes. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.

Mix with Pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to help loosen it up.

Taste and Adjust: Taste the pasta and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or red pepper flakes as needed.

Serve: Once everything is combined and warmed through, remove from heat. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
