Ingredients

1 bunch of fresh kale (about 8-10 oz)

2 tablespoons sesame oil

1 tablespoon tamari or soy sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (white and/or black)

1/2 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)

Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional for spice)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Kale: Wash and thoroughly dry the kale leaves. Remove the thick stems and tear or cut the kale into bite-sized pieces.

Mix the Marinade: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sesame oil, tamari (or soy sauce), garlic powder, onion powder, sesame seeds, sea salt, and red pepper flakes if using. Whisk together until well mixed.

Coat the Kale: Add the kale pieces to the bowl with the marinade. Massage the seasoning into the kale leaves, ensuring that each piece is evenly coated.

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Spread the seasoned kale in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Avoid overcrowding, as this can prevent them from getting crispy.

Bake the Chips: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, checking around the 10-minute mark. Toss the chips gently to ensure even crisping. Keep an eye on them to avoid burning—remove them when they are crispy and lightly browned.

Cool and Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and allow the kale chips to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes—they will become even crunchier as they cool.

Enjoy: Transfer to a serving bowl or store in an airtight container. Enjoy your crunchy sesame kale chips as a healthy snack or a delightful topping for salads!
