Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 packet ranch seasoning mix

1 packet au jus seasoning mix

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

10-15 whole pepperoncini peppers (jarred)

1/2 cup chicken broth (optional, for extra moisture)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

    - Rinse the chicken breasts under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Season them lightly with salt and pepper.

      Mix the Seasonings:

        - In a small bowl, combine the ranch seasoning and au jus seasoning. This blend will deliver that iconic Mississippi flavor.

          Layer the Ingredients:

            - Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your crockpot. Sprinkle the ranch and au jus seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken.

              Add Butter and Peppers:

                - Cut the stick of butter into slices and distribute them over the chicken. Arrange the pepperoncini peppers on top of the chicken and butter.

                  Optional Addition:

                    - If you desire a bit more moisture in your dish, pour in the chicken broth at this stage.

                      Cook:

                        - Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours. The chicken should be tender and easily shred with a fork.

                          Shred and Serve:

                            - Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the crockpot, mixing the juices and spices throughout. Allow it to simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

                              Garnish:

                                - Serve the Mississippi Chicken over rice or mashed potatoes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley to add a pop of color and freshness.
