Ingredients

2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup whole milk

Salt to taste

Freshly ground black pepper to taste

1/4 cup chopped fresh chives or parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Boil the Potatoes: In a large pot, add the peeled and chopped Yukon Gold potatoes. Fill the pot with cold water until the potatoes are fully submerged. Add a generous pinch of salt, cover the pot, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.

Cook the Garlic: While the potatoes are boiling, prepare the garlic. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 1/4 cup of the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and soft, being careful not to let it brown.

Drain and Mash the Potatoes: Once the potatoes are done, drain them in a colander. Return the drained potatoes to the pot. Use a potato masher or ricer to mash the potatoes until smooth.

Add Butter and Cream: To the mashed potatoes, add the sautéed garlic and butter mixture. Also, pour in the heavy cream and whole milk. Stir gently to combine until creamy and smooth.

Season and Adjust: Taste the mashed potatoes and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper according to your preference. If you desire a creamier texture, feel free to add additional milk or cream.

Garnish and Serve: Transfer the creamy garlic mashed potatoes to a serving bowl. If desired, melt the remaining 1/4 cup butter and drizzle it over the top. Sprinkle with chopped fresh chives or parsley for a pop of color and extra flavor. Serve warm.
