½ cup heavy cream

For Garnish:

Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Chocolate Cake:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.

        - Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.

          - Carefully stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).

            - Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.

              - Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

                Make the Peanut Butter Frosting:

                  - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and peanut butter together until creamy.

                    - Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue mixing until combined.

                      - Add the vanilla extract and enough heavy cream to achieve a smooth and spreadable consistency.

                        Prepare the Chocolate Ganache:

                          - In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

                            - Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.

                              Assemble the Cake:

                                - Once the cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of peanut butter frosting on top.

                                  - Place the second layer on top, then apply a crumb coat (a thin layer of frosting all over the cake) to seal in crumbs. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

                                    - After chilling, frost the entire cake with the remaining peanut butter frosting.

                                      - Pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.

                                        Garnish:

                                          - Sprinkle crushed peanuts and chocolate shavings on top of the ganache for an extra touch.

                                            Slice and Serve:

                                              - Cut into slices and serve with a glass of cold milk or your favorite beverage.
