Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/3 cup melted butter

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg, beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

Pinch of salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 tablespoons sugar (for the cinnamon swirl)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for the cinnamon swirl)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until mostly smooth. Stir in the melted butter.

Add the granulated sugar and brown sugar to the banana mixture; mix until combined.

Incorporate the beaten egg and vanilla extract into the mixture, stirring until well blended.

Sprinkle the baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon over the mixture, then stir to incorporate.

Add the all-purpose flour and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix! Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

In a separate bowl, prepare the cinnamon swirl mixture by combining the 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter. Top with the remaining batter and then sprinkle the last of the cinnamon sugar on top.

Using a knife or skewer, gently swirl the batter to create a marbled effect without fully mixing it together.

Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, tent loosely with aluminum foil.

Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
