Ingredients

1 ripe avocado, mashed (about 1 cup)

1/2 cup pure maple syrup or honey

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup almond flour

1/2 cup vanilla or chocolate protein powder (plant-based or whey)

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp sea salt

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional for extra gooeyness)

1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds, optional)

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the edges for easy removal.

Prepare the Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the mashed avocado and maple syrup (or honey). Mix until smooth and creamy. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, almond flour, protein powder, baking soda, and sea salt. Ensure there are no lumps and all dry ingredients are well blended.

Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. If using, fold in the dark chocolate chips and chopped nuts for an extra crunch and chocolatey bite.

Spread the Batter: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to evenly spread it out and smooth the top.

Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Use the parchment overhang to lift the brownies out, then let them cool completely on a wire rack before cutting them into squares.

Enjoy: Serve and enjoy your guilt-free, protein-packed chocolate brownies! They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for a week.
