Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal.

Brown the Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, stirring frequently. Once melted, continue to cook until the butter turns a deep golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 4-5 minutes. Be careful not to burn it! Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix Sugars and Eggs: In a large bowl, combine the browned butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar. Stir until well combined. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. The dough will be thick.

Prepare for Baking: Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula to smooth the top.

Add Topping: In a small bowl, mix together the 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the dough.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The edges should be slightly golden and the center should be set.

Cool and Slice: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes. Use the parchment overhang to lift the bars out of the pan. Transfer them to a cutting board and slice into squares.

Enjoy: Serve these delicious brown butter snickerdoodle bars warm or at room temperature. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week (if they last that long!).
