Ingredients

2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust for sweetness)

A pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 200°F (93°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Slice the Apples: Wash and dry the apples. Using a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer, slice the apples into thin rounds (about 1/8 inch thick). Remove the seeds but keep the cores intact for full flavor.

Toss in Lemon Juice: Place the apple slices in a large bowl. Drizzle with lemon juice and toss the slices gently to coat; this will help prevent browning while adding a hint of tartness.

Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir until well mixed.

Coat the Apples: Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the apple slices, tossing them gently again to ensure even coating.

Arrange on Baking Sheets: Lay the apple slices flat on the prepared baking sheets in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap for optimal crispness.

Bake the Chips: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven. Bake the apple slices for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until they are crispy and golden. You can flip them halfway through for even baking.

Cool Down: Once done, remove the chips from the oven and let them cool completely on the sheets. They will continue to harden as they cool.

Store or Serve: Once cooled, enjoy the apple chips immediately or store them in an airtight container for a healthy snack later!
