Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

½ cup unsweetened applesauce

2 large eggs

½ cup milk

¼ cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup finely chopped apples (such as Granny Smith)

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the applesauce, eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix. Gently fold in the chopped apples.

Fill the Donut Pan: Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.

Cool the Donuts: Let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Coating: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Brush each donut with melted butter and then dip them into the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve: Enjoy your delicious Baked Apple Cinnamon Donuts warm or at room temperature with a cup of coffee or tea!
