Ingredients

1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced

2 cups broccoli florets

1 cup jasmine rice

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the rice:

Start by cooking the jasmine rice according to package instructions. Typically, this involves rinsing the rice and then boiling it in a pot with water (1 cup rice to 1.5 cups water). Once cooked, fluff it with a fork and set aside.

      Cook the beef:

In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the thinly sliced beef. Season with salt and pepper, stirring frequently until browned and cooked through (about 3-4 minutes). Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

          Sauté garlic and ginger:

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté the minced garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

              Add broccoli:

Toss in the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3 minutes, until they turn bright green and become tender-crisp.

                  Combine sauce ingredients:

In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water). Stir until well combined.

                      Combine ingredients:

Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the sauce over the top and stir to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is heated through.

                          Serve:

To serve, scoop a portion of the cooked jasmine rice into bowls. Top with the beef and broccoli mixture and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
